Insomnia
Symptoms of insomnia include finding it hard to fall asleep, waking up several times during the night and feeling tired during the day. Insomnia can also lead to a weakened immune system. If left untreated, insomnia can wreak havoc on our health and well being.
You can help improve insomnia by making changes to your sleep habits, such as having a bedtime routine, not eating or drinking shortly before bed, limiting ‘tech’ before bedtime.
Common causes of insomnia include stress, anxiety, too much noise at night, menopause, andropause, your bedroom being too hot, too cold or too light and drinks containing caffeine.
Reflexology is used to help people with sleep issues by calming the nervous system, balancing hormones, promoting relaxation, improving mood, reducing pain and stress.
Reflexology for insomnia targets the pineal gland point, encouraging healing and balance to the area. The pineal glands main job is to regulate circadian rhythm. It is part of the endocrine system and is responsible for secreting melatonin, a hormone that controls our circadian processes of sleep and wakefulness.
